Miharu Sapporo Ramen

It's been a lazy Sunday ........ lazing around the house before heading for a yoga class in the evening. It has been such a lazy day that our brains and bodies went on a holiday as well.

An hour of yoga, burnt some calories, it's time for DINNER!

After zoning out in the car, hungry and dunno where to go, for a good 1 minute or so we decided to try out luck (again) at the ramen place which we missed at Gallery Hotel the last time around.

Place: Miharu Sapporo Ramen.
Time: 8ish

We were surprised to see the place full. Luckily we didn't have to wait long for our table.

The place pretty much just sells noodles. Soup and Cold. Spoilt for choice, right?

We ordered 1x Tokusen Miso (Special Miso Ramen, $12.50) and Tokusen Tonsio (Pork Bone Stock Ramen, $12). The servings came quite big and REALLY SCALDING HOT!!! We have 2 COOKED tongues to prove. Be Warned! Soup is quite oily and the special miso soup tasted a little nutty ...... hmmm ..... go figure.

Over all, we weren't that impressed with it. The 2 other ramen places we have been to tasted better. But better than your typical Aj***n noodles lor. Please note that they are closed on Wednesdays. We had to find out the hard way.

Sorry ppl that there isn't any images. Too lazy to bring camera along. Hey! It has been a lazy Sunday!

Ramen and Night Photography

After work today, Audrey and I took some time to go do our photography class "homework". We are suppose to take some photos during the evening "magic" hour (roughly around 7.30pm). We are suppose to take some night shots too. Well, we decided to take scene around Gallery Hotel cause we can go eat ramen after that.

Well, got to work before getting the reward.
Here are some photos we took, look good?

Photo is taken outside 'Book Cafe'.

Photo taken of 'Gallery Hotel' near to the magic hour.
Photo is framed by Audrey.

The picture (below) is taken outside of
'The Quayside' which is near to Gallery Hotel.
It happen to be a full moon night too....

After an hour of photo taking, we were getting hungry. We wanted to try the ramen at 'Miharu Japanese Noodles' which is located at Gallery Hotel but it turns out that they are closed on Wednesday. Never trust all that you read on newspaper! On one of the Sunday Times, they reviewed this place and states that they open daily.

Luckily for us, there are several other ramen places around an d we decided to 'Ichibantei Ramen (The Quayside)' which was also reviewed by the same article in Sunday Times.

I can't remember what noodle we ordered but it very good.
Each noodle cost under $10 which I think its quite reasonable.
After dinner, we went to take a stroll and also take more photos.

We spotted some interesting buildings across Gallery Hotel.
(Below) It looks like some new shophouses that got refurbished and looking for new tenant. Look good in the night.. abit gothic?

A new condo behind those shophouses.
The moon was partially covered by clouds but I like the effect.

Look forward to more of our photos...

Sunday Dinner at Cafe 211

Bought my wife out to have dinner at Cafe 211. Got a voucher from DBS, 1 for 1 main course but have to order 2 drinks...

Took some pictures while waiting for food...

Kinda dark, but that our dinner, spagetti scampi, spagetti seafood with creamy seafood sauce (I can't remember what the name) and our 2 cool drinks, lychee ice blended and strawberry smoothie. Trust me, the ice blended is nicer. :)

Puppies!!!

Some stray dog gave birth to 7 puppies and they took shelter in my house now (my outdoor kitchen to be precise). They look so adorable but not so friendly (scared more likely) towards human.

And here is our favourites.....

Anyone want to adopt one?

BBQ at WaterEdge

We got invited to Uncle Pete's somewhat house warming (been there before) and viewing of his rooftop garden. His place is located at the end of Pasir Ris (further in from Downtown East), its a condo called WaterEdge. He has recently done up the roof garden complete with a pond, basin, frige, surrond-sound (weather-proof speakers) and a nice chill-out sofa.

Here is the pond with some lovely Kois as resident.

Some pictures I took from the roof-top garden.

Sunset taken from the other end of the roof garden.

Here is the host/chef with his trusty Thermos grill, powered by gas but heated by volcanic rocks. Its really excellent for barbaque, the food turns out nicely cooked and taste delicious.

Cooking in progress....

Drooling yet?

Thanks, Uncle Pete for the good times and food!

Tau Kwa Pau for You?

Had tau kwa pau & laksa for lunch today. This store is located along Joo Chiat Road, in a coffee shop facing diagonally Katong Mall. It was recently featured in Coffee Talk and Hawker Walk, with Fiona Sia and Belinda Lee. It seems that Taiwanese Ah Liang was here before and the store was also featured in Channel U's FBI food show.

We ordered 2 serving of tau kwa pau and I must say, with extra gravy, it tasted fantastic. The toppings were generous and the chilli is quite tasty. The downside is the food is abit cold.

It's definitely worth a try.

Zhng Yourself!

Since our last posting, we have underwent some zhng-ing of ourselves.
Audrey went to have her hair highlighted, which you can't really see the difference unless its under bright light. Even so, its only very minor coloring.

As for myself, I not sure what got into me but I went to have my teeth straighten. By braces! Its gonna take me 2 years before its done. And this is only the first week. ~Sob~ Gonna be a long wait.... Here is a picture of my metal mouth...

Currently, its silver color bands. Think I might try the golden ones next time.
Will definitely post when I get it changed.
